WILD AT HEART is an independent film production company based in Athens, Greece, founded in 2021 by producer Maria Kontogianni. Driven by an ambition to connect talent across borders, WILD AT HEART is rapidly establishing its presence within the industry, specializing in co-producing stories of a “wild heart” — daring, emotionally resonant, and culturally layered.
Its creative focus is mainly on films from a female perspective, black comedies and content for young audiences (original IP animation, games, books). The company’s films have been acknowledged in Locarno, Toronto, Annecy, Sitges, Cairo, Sarajevo, the European Film Academy Awards, LUX awards, etc., and enjoyed multi-plaform releases. Its most recent multi-awarded titles are: ANIMAL (by S. Exarchou, Locarno IFF Pardo of Best Performance), BE A GOOD GIRL (by L. Zousias, Sitges IFF), BLACK STONE (by S. Jacovides, Trieste Best New Director). Upcoming projects are 3D animation feature NINE LIVE LEFT (by Zacharias Mavroeidis), HYSTÉRA (by Assimina Proedrou) and minority co-productions with the US, Norway, Germany and the Balkans.
Maria Kontogianni is a member of the European Film Academy, the Hellenic Film Academy, SAPOE, and alumna of EAVE Producers Network and CANNES Producer on the Move.
